Assets Policy

The United States needs an asset-building system that is inclusive, progressive, simple, participant-centered, and enduring. This track examines strategies to develop and enact a powerful, bi-partisan asset-building agenda at all levels of government and the role that IDA leaders can play in achieving such an agenda. Focus Areas: Federal and State

IDA Initiatives and Operations

AFIA and other initiatives are expanding asset-building opportunities to low-income people throughout the world. This track explores asset building by type, use, and population, particularly highlighting emerging issues, models, and approaches to practice. In addition to basic design considerations, practioners will highlight innovations in sustaining funding, refining collaborative ventures, and delivering effective resources. Focus Areas: Asset Building by Type and Use, Asset Building by Population, International Asset Building, and Emerging Issues and Approaches

New Technologies, Products, and Markets

Progressive asset accounts and tools must be more accessible and cost-effective to reach millions of people. This track addresses innovations in product development, the potential for delivering products and services using new technology, and the key players involved. Workshop sessions will focus on the roles of financial institutions and employers in reaching greater numbers and emphasize new tools and products as well as niche markets such as children and youth. Focus Areas: Employers, Financial Institutions, Children and Youth, and Tools and Products

Research and Evaluation

Asset-building data and research are powerful tools for advancing innovation and sustainability. This track uncovers the latest findings and helps shape the research agenda of asset stakeholders.

Experience Levels

Beginner

Presumes little or no previous knowledge of asset-building or IDA concepts or practice.

Intermediate

Presumes a working knowledge of asset-building or IDA concepts and/or practice, and some experience with IDAs or IDA-like initiatives.

Advanced

Presumes a highly developed understanding of asset-building or IDA concepts and/or practice and at least one year of direct asset-building or IDA experience.
